Answer of Q4. "What causes food waste?"
It has been very
hot in these days in Japan. To make matters worse, a typhoon is coming soon. Please
be careful when you go out.
By the way, I
will try to answer the Q4. “What causes food waste?” this time. To find the
answer of this question, I selected these two sources; one was https://www.conserve-energy-future.com/causes-effects-solutions-food-waste.php
, and the other was https://farmtogethernow.org/2014/11/08/food-waste-causes-effects-and-solutions/
. From the first source, I found some
causes of food waste, which is connected with producer-and-consumer behavior; for
example, according to this source, “keeping up with safety-food policies”
contributes to the food waste. Under the policies, producers have to get rid of
vegetables or fruits whose shapes or sizes are not perfect in the supply chain,
and they have to throw them away. I felt that I could trust the information of
this site because the causes of food waste are well-analyzed and they are
clearly described.
From the second
source, I found the causes of food waste from the regional perspective. I found
a convincing analysis that food waste is mostly occurred at the consumption process
in developed countries, but on the contrary, most cases of food waste are
occurred at the process of production in developing countries. According to
this site, even the food that looks safe to eat will be wasted in developed
countries because we are very loyal to “best-by” policy (Please check the
former post to check out what “best-by” is; https://foodissues2018.blogspot.com/2018/07/answer-of-q1-what-can-be-done-to-reduce.html).
In developing countries, however, technologies and infrastructure for food-transportation
are not so developed, so food can often get rotten or damaged. I think that
this site I referred to was trustworthy because many concrete figures or charts
were used to make the content clearer.
Lastly, we can
conclude that the causes of food waste are divided into two major aspects;
producer-and-consumer aspect and regional aspect. We need to focus on the
behavior of producers and consumers and the difference between developed and
developing countries, to find the solutions of food waste.

You chose some good sources and summarized them well. I was also glad to see that you began your blog by establishing a personal relationship with the reader.
