Answer of Q3. "Which country has the most food waste?"
This time I will focus on the question I posted
before; Q3. "Which country has the most food waste"? (I do not have a purpose to detect which country is responsible for food waste.)
To find the answer of this question, I selected
these two sites; one was https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2015/08/which-countries-waste-the-most-food/
, and the other was http://www.feedingamerica.org/our-work/our-approach/reduce-food-waste.html
. From the former site, I found the fact that much more food waste is occurred
in developed countries than in developing countries. To take a closer look at
the data published on this site, I learned that North America and Oceania waste
the food most, and Europe follows it.
This site shows that North America and Oceania
has the most food waste, so I will discover how serious the problem of food
waste in America. From the latter sites, I found out that most food waste is
generated at home, and consumer-facing businesses generates the second largest
amount of food waste in America. To reduce the food waste, Feeding America, the
NGO appears on this site, tries to gather food waste from retailors or companies
to prevent food waste from being wasted. To promote this activity, Feeding
America cooperate with some other groups, such as Starbucks Food Share or
MealConnect.
I think that these sites I referred to are
trustworthy because the first one included a specific data, and the latter one
showed how serious the problem of food waste is by using specific results.
In conclusion, food waste is mainly generated in developed
countries. Japan is also one of them, so we should promote the activities to
reduce the food waste.
