Answer of Q1."What can be done to reduce food waste"?

This time, I will answer the Q1. “What can be done to reduce food waste?” To answer this question, I selected three sources; the first one  was  https://www.epa.gov/recycle/reducing-wasted-food-home, the second one was https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/food-safety-education/get-answers/food-safety-fact-sheets/food-labeling/food-product-dating/food-product-dating and the third one was https://lovefoodhatewaste.com/ . From the first and second sites, I found out that there are a lot of methods to deal with food waste in regard to shopping, storage and cooking. One of the most surprising discoveries is the difference among “best-by”, “sell-by” and “use-by.” “Best-by” is the date that the food reaches its best quality and flavor. “Sell-by” is the date that the products are on the display for sale. “Use-by” is the date limit that the food can keep its quality. We have to pay attention to the difference of the three, or we will be fated to waste a lot of food.

From the third site, I learned that we can reuse leftovers and create other dishes. There are many recipes published on this site; one of the most attractive recipes was “Bakery-pudding.”(The link of this recipe is https://lovefoodhatewaste.com/recipe/bakery-pudding ) I had never imagined that the bakery can be turned into puddings, so I was very impressed by that.

These sites I referred to were trustworthy because the first and second ones are the sites that the official institutions in the United States control. In addition, the third one is the site of a NGO, called “Love Food Hate Waste”, and they conduct various kinds of activities to reduce food waste, so I felt it trustworthy.

In conclusion, there are many solutions that we can do from now, particularly in regard to cooking. To prevent food from being thrown away, let’s check the limits of the food in refrigerators, and if some of the food are too much and have a possibility to be wasted, let’s reuse them and cook new dishes.
