Answer of Q6. "What will happen if we don't reduce the amount of food waste?"
Is summer
vacation coming soon or are you already on summer vacation? Have a nice vacation.
Well, this time
I will try to answer the Q6. “What will happen if we don't reduce the amount of
food waste?” To find the answer of this question, I selected these two sites;
the one was https://www.moveforhunger.org/the-environmental-impact-of-food-waste/
and the other was https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/08/150814091148.htm
. From the first source, I found out that the food waste contributes to
environmental problem. If the food waste is not recycled into, such as compost,
it will end up in landfills. The landfills which is composed of food waste exhaust
a lot of methane. This is a kind of greenhouse gas, and it has a stronger
effect to get the surface of the earth warm than dioxide does. I felt that I could
trust this source because the bad effects of food waste are summarized simply
and clearly.
From the second
source, I found the surprising fact that I had never know; “meat food waste”
contributes to environmental problems more negatively than the food waste of
vegetables. According to this source, we need more energy to produce meats than
vegetables. If the meat food waste is wasted, it is not only the waste of food
but also the waste of energy. I think this site is trustworthy because this is
an article that one official institution published.
In conclusion,
we can say that the issue of food waste is strongly connected with
environmental problems. Your small actions can be the big power to solve the
problems of food waste and environment.
